Astrocartography

Where on Earth does your sky come alive?

When you were born, every planet stood straight above one place on Earth. Your map draws where each one was rising, setting, overhead and underfoot, and names the cities those lines cross.

  • 40 planetary lines
  • Your three strongest places
  • Lines near your birthplace
  • Closest cities

Your birth details

Local time where you were born. Required: use your birth certificate if you can.

Type at least 3 letters, then choose your town from the list.

Why the exact time matters

The Earth turns a degree every four minutes, so every four minutes of error moves all of your lines about 110 km. An hour off moves them by more than 1,600 km, into different cities and sometimes different countries. We never guess a missing time.

Your birth details are used only to draw this map and are stored encrypted. Free maps stay available for 30 days through a private link, and you can delete yours at any time.

How it works · 01

It begins in space

At the moment you were born, the Sun, the Moon and each planet stood straight above one point of the Earth. Those ten points are where your map begins.

02 · The lines

Four lines for every planet

From each point, four lines run across the globe: where the planet was overhead and underfoot, and where it was rising and setting on the horizon.

MC
Overhead. A meridian from pole to pole: calling, visibility.
IC
Underfoot. The opposite meridian: home and roots.
AC
Rising. A curve along the eastern horizon: self and vitality.
DC
Setting. The mirror curve in the west: partners and others.

03 · Your places

Where the lines meet the land

A line passing near a city brings its planet’s themes forward there: Venus for love and beauty, Jupiter for growth, the Sun for vitality. Your map names the cities each line crosses first, then the larger ones nearby.

A sample map: born 12 August 1990, 2:35 pm, Washington, D.C. (the gold point). Shown here: Bakersfield (the pink and violet point), which its Venus line crosses about 10 km (6 miles) from the centre; its Jupiter line passes 29 km (18 miles) away. The lines are exact; the planets’ distances are not to scale.

What your map can tell you

Astrocartography takes the same birth chart as your Western reading and lays it over the world. Near a line, that planet’s themes tend to come forward: in your work, your home, your sense of self or your relationships.

It is guidance, not a forecast. A place favors certain themes; it never guarantees them, and no place is off limits. It is not travel, relocation, safety or financial advice.

Lines are drawn from each planet’s true position in the sky (in mundo), for the Sun, the Moon and the eight planets. Places within 250 km of a line feel it strongly; within 700 km, noticeably. Earth imagery: NASA Blue Marble (public domain).

Method and trust

A map you can check

Calculation and meaning are kept apart, and every choice behind your map is named.

01

The exact time comes first

Four minutes of birth time move every line about 110 km. We ask for your exact time before drawing, and we never invent a missing one.

02

Checked, line by line

AstrologyAPI calculates where each planet stood. We check every point of every line against our own geometry, then work out the crossings and distances ourselves.

03

Real places, openly sourced

City names come from Natural Earth’s public-domain list of about 7,300 places worldwide. One calculated map serves both the free and the complete reading.

Questions

What is astrocartography?

A way of reading your birth chart on the world map. It shows where on Earth each planet was rising, setting, overhead or underfoot at the moment you were born. Astrologers read places near those lines as places where that planet’s themes come forward.

Do I need my exact birth time?

Yes. The Earth turns a degree every four minutes, so the whole map shifts with the time: four minutes is about 110 km, an hour more than 1,600 km. Without a time there is no reliable map, so we do not draw one.

Why are some lines straight and others curved?

MC and IC lines are meridians: wherever the planet was overhead or underfoot, it was so along a whole line of longitude. The rising and setting lines follow the curve of the horizon across the globe, so they bend, and they stop near the poles where the planet never rose or set that day.

How close to a line do I need to be?

Within about 250 km, a line is felt strongly; up to about 700 km, noticeably. Farther away its influence fades. Your map gives each city’s distance from the line.

Is this advice about where to live or travel?

No. Your map offers spiritual guidance, not professional advice. It never says a place is dangerous or that something will happen there, and it does not replace practical decisions about moving, work, safety or money. Travel conditions vary and change: before booking a trip, check your government’s current travel advisories for the places you plan to visit.

What happens to my birth details?

They are used only to draw your map and are stored encrypted. A free map stays available for 30 days through its private link, a complete reading for 365 days from payment; you can delete either at any time from the end of the reading. If you lose the link of a free map, you can simply draw it again.

What does the complete reading add?

For $4.99, once: all 40 of your lines explained with their closest larger cities, your places for love, career, home and roots, creativity, growth and luck, and rest and healing, where your lines cross, the lines near where you live now if you choose to add it, Your Map Together with a partner, and a PDF to keep. Your map is not calculated again.

Can I see a map with my partner?

Yes, in the complete reading: add your partner’s birth details, with their permission, and Your Map Together shows the places where both of your maps favor the same things and where your lines meet. It is included at no extra charge. We keep their map, never their birth date or time.

Can I give a reading as a gift?

Yes. You pay and we email a private invitation; the person you choose enters their own birth details, and their reading is theirs alone. You never see their details or their map.
